2014 Port Vintage Report

Rain caused significant damage in the first half of the year, then a cool August didn’t help matters. Yields will be low, quality is not remarkable, and vintage declarations unlikely for most producers apart from Quinta Do Noval and Churchill's who declared a small batch of their 2014 ports.

Palmer Port, 2014

Colheita Port, Douro

Exclusive to Vintage Wine & Port.

The 2014 Palmer colheita Port is a type of tawny port wine made from a single vintage and aged in wood for at least seven years before being bottled. The 2014 Colheita Port, therefore, would have been aged in casks many years before being bottled.

Tasting Notes:
This Port has a deep tawny colour and a nose of rich and complex aromas of dried fruits, nuts, caramel, and spices. On the Palate the Port is smooth and well-balanced with flavours of fig, raisin, walnut, and toffee. There can be a hint of vanilla and a touch of spice due to the oak ageing.

Quinta de la Rosa, 2014

Vintage Port

Quinta de La Rosa is a small estate in the heart of the Port wine-growing region in Alto Douro, near Pinhao, owned and operated by the Bergqvist family.

The Quinta and its vineyards were given to the Bergqvist family as a Christening present by the Feuerheerds, who established the property in 1906.

It remains one of the few Single Quinta where the vineyards start at the bank of the Douro and rise 450 meters to the towering top of the mountain. From the river's edge to the top, one passes through 11 different microclimates. This gives La Rosa great flexibility to add variety and complexity to its Ports.

Quinta do Noval, 2014

Vintage Port, Douro

Just 1000 cases declared by Quinta do Noval

Managing Director Christian Seely:

“I am extremely happy to be able to release Quinta do Noval Vintage Port 2014.

We continue to follow our slightly eccentric path at Quinta do Noval. The fundamental principle for us is that if we have a wine that we believe is of the quality and personality required to be bottled as a Quinta do Noval Vintage, then we should bottle it and declare it, whether or not we declared a Vintage the year before, and even if the quantity of wine involved is very small. This led us to declare very small amounts of Quinta do Noval Vintage Port in 2012, 2013, even after the generally declared year of 2011.
