From a much underrated vintage and house, this is a truly excellent Vintage Port. Although hugely enjoyable now, this will fully reward a few more years of patience and can be enjoyed for many years to come.

The1994 Gould Campbell Vintage Port, is a fine example of vintage port from an outstanding year. Enjoy it now for a sophisticated tasting experience or hold onto it for further aging to see how it continues to evolve.

Tasting Notes
This port wine shows a deep ruby colour with hints of garnet, with complex aromas of blackberries, dark cherries, plums, figs, spices, chocolate, and mint. Its full-bodied taste is rich, intense, and complemented by chocolate, licorice, and spice. Its long and persistent finish indicates great aging potential.

Serving and Food pairing
Vintage Ports are best served slightly below modern room temperature: 16° to 18° C.

Gould Campbell has come to establish a reputation for excellent quality of their Ports and their Vintage Ports in particular. Once described as the "Saab of Vintage Ports", a comparison to the good-value and totally reliable, with a touch of slightly quirky flair, Swedish motor-cars.
The vineyards used for Gould Campbell are based in the Alto Douro area where yields tend to be very low but the grapes produce Ports of immense complexity and depth. Gould Campbell was founded in 1797 by Garret Gould who sailed to the shores of Portugal in order to avoid the political issues facing Ireland. The firm survived the Peninsula War which followed a few years later and soon became very successful bringing into partnership the prestigious Merchants and Bankers James Campbell & Co.
