The 1987 was very close to being a fully-fledged Vintage. The port wines are balanced and elegant and will provide fine drinking in the medium-term. The result is that the consumer can buy Ports at a fraction of the price of what they would have cost, providing good value for money. This single vineyard 1987 vintage Port from Kopke has a medium garnet colour. Excellent bouquet of red fruit and candy floss. Sweet with good balancing acidity, with notes of caramel and a long finish. Bright red colour with a golden rim. A rich and aromatic nose made up of dried fruit, hazelnut and walnut, well combined with hints of spice. In the mouth, intense, smooth and delicious flavours of dried fruit are offset by a fresh note of candied orange peel. Good structure, fine balance and remarkable acidity.
