Vintage Port

Description and Reviews:
The 1991 Quinta de la Rosa Vintage Port is a notable wine from the esteemed Quinta de la Rosa estate, which has a rich history of producing high-quality ports. 1991 was considered an excellent year for port production, with ideal weather conditions contributing to the quality of the grapes.

Tasting Notes
The 1991 Quinta de la Rosa still has a deep ruby color, indicating both youth and concentration. On the nose there is a complex and intense bouquet with aromas of dark berries, plums, blackcurrants, and cherries, complemented by hints of spice, chocolate, and a touch of floral notes. Full-bodied and rich on the palate, with robust tannins providing structure. Flavors of ripe black fruits are prominent, along with nuances of licorice, spice, and a touch of earthy minerality. The port offers a well-balanced profile with a long, lingering finish.

Aging Potential: Vintage ports are known for their longevity, and the 1991 Quinta de la Rosa Vintage Port is no exception. With proper cellaring, it can continue to develop and improve over several decades.

Serving and food pairing suggestions Serve slightly below room temperature, around 60-65°F (15-18°C), to best appreciate its complex flavors and aromas. It is recommended to decant this vintage port to remove any sediment and allow the wine to breathe, which helps to fully express its bouquet and flavor profile.

Food Pairing: Pairs well with a variety of foods, including strong cheeses like Stilton or Roquefort, dark chocolate desserts, and rich, nutty cakes. It can also be enjoyed on its own as a contemplative dessert wine.

About Quinta de la Rosa
Quinta de La Rosa is a small estate in the heart of the Port wine-growing region in Alto Douro, near Pinhao, owned and operated by the Bergqvist family.
The Quinta and its vineyards were given to the Bergqvist family as a Christening present by the Feuerheerds, who established the property in 1906. It remains one of the few Single Quinta where the vineyards start at the bank of the Douro and rise 450 meters to the towering top of the mountain. From the river's edge to the top, one passes through 11 different microclimates. This gives La Rosa great flexibility to add variety and complexity to its Ports.La Rosa's classic house style achieved by slow maceration in traditional granite 'Lagares' has produced a wine full of luscious forward fruit with a very attractive nose and a long velvety slightly drier finish across the palate.
