Description and Reviews:
This 2018 Late Bottled Vintage Port Wine from Quevedo is made from the grapes of a single vintage year, aged longer in casks than traditional vintage ports, and is ready to drink upon release.
Tasting Notes Deep ruby with purple highlights, with an intense aroma of ripe blackberries, dark cherries, and plums, with subtle hints of spice, chocolate, and eucalyptus. The palate is full-bodied and rich, with flavours of ripe dark fruits, dark chocolate, licorice, and black pepper. The tannins are firm yet well-integrated, providing structure and balance. The finish is long and persistent, with a fruity and slightly spicy aftertaste. Drink From Now to 2033.
Serving & Food Pairing While LBV Port is usually filtered and doesn’t necessarily need decanting like Vintage Ports, decanting can still enhance the experience by allowing the wine to breathe and open up its flavors. LBV Port should be served slightly below room temperature, ideally between 15-17°C (59-63°F). It will pair best with goats cheese, almonds, blue cheese, brownies, nuts, and chocolate but it can also enhance game based dishes that are accompanied by fruit-based sauces.
Quevedo is an incredible, innovative producer that is very highly regarded amongst port aficionados. The family have been making port wine for generations however their produce was for merchants based in Vila Nova de Gaia. Family-owned for over 100 years, the estate is now in the capable hands of Oscar and Claudia, the new generation of winemakers. Together, they have developed and innovated to produce an outstanding portfolio of ports and still wines. With 112 hectares of vineyards in prime locations, a modern winery, and generations of knowledge it is easy to see why their ports and still wines are consistently rated as outstanding.
How to store your LBV Port: Store the bottle in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight.
