The small port shipping house of Niepoort has been handcrafting outstanding ports since 1842. Dirk Niepoort is currently the fifth generation of the family to personally oversee every wine which leaves the famous lodge in Vila de Gaia. Their extraordinary reputation is founded on a commitment to ancient vineyards, still treading most of their grapes in old granite ‘lagares' and bottling without filtration. As such, they remain regarded by many as the guardians of authentic port production.

Colheita ports are the products of a single year – in
this case 2005 - but are aged far longer in traditional casks. The result is a very individual expression of tawny port, which is quite ready to drink, but can develop a little further in bottle (and also keeps well once opened). Niepoort enjoy a peerless reputation for their Colheitas.

"Superb brick red/brown appearance with medium depth of colour. Very clean fresh aroma with a subdued spicy character and a hint of dried fruits. Refreshing seductive flavours on the palate with dried fruits and a lingering nutty velvety finish on the palate."
