A very rare bottle of Vintage Port from the good 1979 Vintage - these are the only bottles available in the UK and a true rarity. Exclusive to VWP, these were taken directly from the Messias Cellars in Porto where they have been stored since original bottling.

The 1979 Messias Cachao port is fully mature with a tawny colour. This bottle was decanted 4 hours prior to tasting. On the nose there are notes of molasses, honey and butterscotch. On the pallet there is a good balance, slightly high acidity but the sweetness balances this out. Notes of walnut and hazelnut on the palate as well as a little coffee and molasses. Nice finish. A great 40th Anniversary treat.

Unlike the colheita ports from the same year, this wine has aged in the bottle for nearly 40 years (as opposed to in barrel). It is among the rarest category of ports and is a delight for the port connoisseur.
