Messias, 1965

Colheita Port, Douro

Description and Reviews:
Colheita Ports are known for their elegance and finesse. The 1965 Messias Colheita Port showcases the characteristics of a single year and reflects the careful aging process in oak barrels. Only bottled recently, this wine should have maintained a lively freshness.

Tasting notes
In the glass it exhibits a brilliant tawny colour. Fresh with, with a orange blossom bouquet that brings out further aromas of dried fruits, roasted almonds and walnuts, wood and spices due to the prolonged time this wine has spent in cask. This gradual oxidation has created a soft and harmonious port full of complex flavour characteristics. The sweetness is balanced by a good level of acidity, which adds structure and complexity. Long and lingering finish, with a persistent nutty flavour and a subtle sweetness that fades gracefully.

Serving & Food Pairing
Colheita Ports are ready-to drink and do not require decanting. Best enjoyed slightly chilled at 12-13ºC they will work wonders if pairing with treacle tart, crème brulee or nut based desserts, like hazelnut praline. Once opened colheita Port should be stored in a fridge and should be consumed within 3 months.
