This 1984 Vintage Port from Messias is an ideal gift for a 40th Birthday or Anniversary. The bottles have excellent provenance having been shipped to us directly from the Messias cellars in Porto. Ready to enjoy now, this port will offer a luxurious and memorable tasting experience.
Tasting Notes: Medium garnet colour with a viscous and dense texture. The nose features jammy dark fruits, dried fruits, and spicy elements. The palate is full-bodied, robust, with rich flavours of milk chocolate, cinnamon and clove spice and caramel. It has intense fruitiness with layers of dried fruit medley and preserved plums. The wine has balanced acidity and smooth tannins. Long, lingering finish with a touch of a sweet warmth from the alcohol content.
Serving and Food pairing When mature this port will need to be decanted to remove the sediment and allow the air to express and develop its aromas and flavours. Serve at room temperature on its own or with steak and blue cheese sauce or vintage mature blue cheeses such as stilton Cashel Blue, Roquefort, Gorgonzola and Saint Augur Blue. Vintage port is also good with chocolate - a flattering accompaniment to top quality hand-made chocolates and artisan chocolate bars.
