Messias, 1983

Quinta Do Cachao Vintage Port
Excellent Provenance - Library Release

Description and Reviews:
An excellent vintage year gave us the Messias 1983 bottle. Very impressive for the age of this wine. Powerful yet elegant, with a fine balance and fluidity. Although it is accessible now, this top effort will benefit from another five to ten years bottle age.

Tasting Notes:
Mature tawny colour. Crème caramel and burned sugar in the nose with hints of currants and dried cherries. Full-bodied and rich, with flavours of milk chocolate, toffee and caramel. Balanced acidity and integrated tannins contribute to a structured and long-lasting finish. Mature, elegant and balanced port ready to drink now.

Serving and Food pairing
When mature this port will need to be decanted to remove the sediment and allow the air to express and develop its aromas and flavours. Serve at room temperature on its own or with steak and blue cheese sauce or vintage mature blue cheeses such as stilton Cashel Blue, Roquefort, Gorgonzola and Saint Augur Blue. Vintage port is also good with chocolate - a flattering accompaniment to top quality hand-made chocolates and artisan chocolate bars.

Messias a renowned Portuguese wine producer, has a history dating back to 1926.
