Description and Reviews:
Colheita Ports like the 1977 Messias are aged in oak barrels for extended periods, often more than thirty years, which allows them to develop a distinctive character and smoothness over time. This aging process enhances their depth and complexity, making them highly prized among Port enthusiasts.
Tasting notes Tawny colour with amber reflections, indicating extended oak barrel aging. Its nose features dried fruit aromas, nut notes, complex spice aromas, and subtle caramel, toffee, and vanilla notes. The palate is medium to full-bodied with a smooth texture, with rich flavors of caramelized nuts, dried fruits, and butterscotch. The wine has a balanced acidity, providing freshness and structure, and a lingering finish with warmth and sweetness.
Serving & Food Pairing Colheita Ports are ready-to drink and do not require decanting. Best enjoyed slightly chilled at 12-13ºC they will work wonders if pairing with treacle tart, crème brulee or nut based desserts, like hazelnut praline. Once opened colheita Port should be stored in a fridge and should be consumed within 3 months.
