Delaforce was founded in 1868 by George Henry Delaforce, who came from a family with a long tradition in the wine trade. The company quickly established itself as a prominent producer of port wine, gaining a reputation for quality and craftsmanship. Delaforce remained a family-run business for many years, with subsequent generations continuing the founder's legacy. Between 1894 and 1906 the company was distinguished with a warrant as supplier of Port wine to the Portuguese Royal Household. In the late 20th century, Delaforce was acquired by Taylor Fladgate & Yeatman and then sold to RCV, a prominent player in the port wine industry.
