Churchill's Port, 2020

Vintage Port, Douro
Quinta Da Gricha

“A seductive and beautiful Vintage Port with vibrant acidity and lovely precision. It is in ripe years like this one where Quinta da Gricha comes into its own, with its mineral soil and North facing vineyards. This Vintage Port has a deep black colour to the core with a violet blue rim, an exuberant and concentrated berry nose with aromas of herbs, flowers, and tropical fruit. Fresh and spicy on the mouth with hints of gum cistus, wild berries and eucalyptus. The amazing vibrant acidity reveals a final palate full of grip and intensity.” - Johnny Graham, 2022.

Churchill's Port, 2020

Vintage Port, Douro

“This is a big, ripe year where the natural acidity of Quinta da Gricha plays an important role in the Vintage blend. With a powerful ox-blood colour, this muscular Port has a fresh vein of tannin that enhances its fruity aroma, bringing vibrancy to its rich, jammy palate and ensuring a balanced and elegant finish. This is a concentrated but fresh Vintage Port with an intrinsic quality to age beautifully in bottle for several decades.” - Johnny Graham, 2022.

Produced with old vines (on average over +50 years old) from the Cima Corgo and Douro Superior sub-regions in the Douro Valley, of which the backbone comes from the old vines of Quinta da Gricha.

Quinta da Gricha- Vintage Port, Douro

All Churchill’s ports are made from Grade-A grapes that are hand-picked, hand sorted, and foot trod in the ancient granite lagares (treading tanks) at Quinta da Gricha in the Douro Valley. We allow an extended period of fermentation in lagares to limit the amount of brandy required in fortification and leading to a drier style of port.

Tasting Notes Darkest colour like elderberry juice. Not yet open on the nose but starting to reveal the richness of damson and the scent of blueberries with a hint of vanilla sweetness. Rich and dense on the palate. Firm, dry tannins, with rich but not obviously sweet black-fruit flavours.

***90 Points- Wine Advocate***

Coffee, lavender and rose add complexity to the intense blackberry nose; on the palate the Churchill is a bold and powerful wine with the floral notes continuing through to the marmalade spiked bramble fruit. Fresh acidity and grippy tannins give massive structure - this is a wine for the long term.

Churchill's Port, 1995

Quinta do Agua Alta

Despite its thoroughly traditional-sounding name Churchill is the newest of the British-owned Port companies, founded in 1981 by J. Graham.

Quinta Agua Alta is named after the spring at the top of the vineyard and it produces wonderfully pure and fresh water that bubbles up through the granite rock below the thin top soil. Olives and figs grow in abundance around the vineyard which produces a quite stunninly powerful port.

Deep purple in colour with a mass of soft and concentrated fruit. There's plenty of tannin to give structure and a pleasing earthiness on the finish. This is the perfect way to round off a good dinner.
