Tasting Notes
This 50 Year Old Tawny Port is a rich, complex wine with a deep amber colour and golden-brown rim. Its aroma is rich and complex, with notes of dried fruits, caramel, toffee, butterscotch, roasted nuts, and subtle wood, spice, and citrus zest. The palate is smooth and velvety, with layers of dried fruits, caramel, brown sugar, nutty character, molasses, dark chocolate, and coffee. The finish is long and complex, with lingering flavors of dried fruits, caramel, nuts, and spice. The wine is perfect for special occasions and contemplative sipping. A magnificent wine with a wonderful balance of sweetness and acidity.
Serving & Food Pairing:
Tawny Ports are ready-to drink and do not require decanting. Best enjoyed slightly chilled at 12-13ºC they will work wonders if pairing with treacle tart, crème brulee or nut based desserts, like hazelnut praline.
