Churchill's Port, 1994

Late Bottled Vintage Port
Magnum 1.5Lt

Description and Reviews:
1994 Late Bottled Vintage (LBV)
This port is a notable example of a high-quality LBV port, produced by Churchill's, a relatively young but highly respected port house founded in 1981 by Johnny Graham.

Tasting Notes
Garnet in colour with ruby highlights. Like many LBVs of this age, the bouquet is likely to include jammy blackberries and plums, alongside notes of dark chocolate, spices, and possibly a touch of floral and herbal nuances. On the palate, you can expect a full-bodied wine with flavours that mirror the nose. The fruit flavors should be well-integrated with notes of chocolate, spice, and a hint of pepper. The wine is likely to have a smooth and velvety texture with balanced acidity.

Serving and Food Pairing Unlike vintage ports, LBV ports are have very little sediment when bottled but will still throw a sediment over time. We would recommend a light decanting which will give it a bit of air to open up its flavours. Temperature: Serve slightly below room temperature, around 16-18°C (60-64°F). LBV ports pair well with a variety of foods, including rich cheeses (like Stilton or Roquefort), dark chocolate desserts, or simply enjoyed on their own as a dessert wine.

About Churchill's
Despite its thoroughly traditional-sounding name Churchill is the newest of the British-owned Port companies, founded in 1981 by J. Graham. Quinta Agua Alta is named after the spring at the top of the vineyard and it produces wonderfully pure and fresh water that bubbles up through the granite rock below the thin top soil. Olives and figs grow in abundance around the vineyard which produces stunning, powerful ports.
